Royal British Legion stalwart dies

A WARRINGTON-based field officer for the Royal British Legion, Graham Pierce MBE, died on Saturday evening, November 29, at home with his family.
He was a Captain in the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and county field officer (Lancashire and the Isle of Man) to the Royal British Legion.
Captain Pierce, 61, lived in Wallasey and served a long term in the Army with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards – Desert Rats tanks – and was British Military adviser on the staff of the High Commission in Lesotho, in southern Africa.
Prior to leaving the Army he was appointed families welfare officer for the regiment and on retiring joined the Royal British Legion based in its Warrington office.
In this role he raised funds for the RBL for sick and needy ex-servicemen and their families, and the Poppy Appeal.
He leaves a wife, Sandra and two children Aaron and Alison.
Captain Pierce was well known in the Warrington area.
The funeral service takes place at St Hilary’s Church, Wallasey Village at 12 noon on Thursday, December 11 and afterwards at the Centre Chapel, Landican Cemtery at 1pm.
