Town slump to defeat

WARRINGTON Town slumped to a disappointing 1-2 Unibond Division One North league defeat to unbeaten Durham City.
The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute through striker Gavin Cogdon but Town levelled six minutes later with their first penalty of the season, converted by leading scorer Chris Gaghan.
Durham regained the lead three minutes after the re-start when Adam Johnston headed home unmarked following sloppy defending.
Warrington had plenty of possession in the closing 20 minutes but failed to create any clear cut chances leaving them battling at the wrong end of the table.
New signing Michael Owen was brought into the action in the 65th minute but looked lost, while Adam Hunter came on for full-back Chris Fitzsimmons as manager Paul Moore tried to take the game to Durham, who always looked dangerous on the break.
Warrington’s best player was midfielder Dave Tickle who never gave up trying but was badly let down by some of his team mates!
The club’s ambitions of making the play offs now seem a distant dream and without a huge improvement it looks like being a long hard winter.
