Police warn over bogus phone calls

A WARNING has been issued about bogus ‘phone calls being made to local homes purporting to be on behalf of the police.
The calls are being made by a market research company who ask questions about people’s residential status.
Cheshire Police say the calls – made to homes in Warrington and elsewhere – are nothing to do with them.
A spokeswoman said: “The only calls currently being made by police are to victims of crime only and the caller will be able to supply contact details to verify the authenticity of the calls.
“Our advice to residents is that if you are at all doubtful about any call you should terminate the call without giving any personal details.”
