CULCHETH looks set to get a three month free trial of CCTV.
Police can make the equipment available and will be able to monitor the high quality images it provides.
The camera will be installed on or near Barclays Bank in Lodge Drive – scene of a dramatic robbery attempt in October.
PCSO Steve Dodd told members of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council the camera would have picked up the raiders had it been in place at the time.
The camera will cover Lodge Drive, Common Lane, Wigshaw Lane and the junction of Common Lane and Warrington Road.
It will also cover the village green and children’s play area.
Coun Keith Bland said: “This is excellent news. Over a period of three months we will be able to assess the effectiveness of the system before decided to go ahead with installing our own, permanent system.”
Pictures from the police camera will be recorded and monitored by officers at the police station at Risley.
The system could be installed before Christmas.
