Baby death: more details emerge

MORE details emerged today about the newborn baby found dead at Warrington.
The 35-year-old woman who is believe to be the baby girl’s mother had previously been monitored by Social Services.
She has learning difficulties – as has the 56-year-old man now understood to be her boyfriend.
The woman was taken to Warrington Hospital on Tuesday after being found collapsed at the town’s bus station.
She was suffering abdominal pains and appeared to have lost a significant amount of blood.
Emergency surgery was carried out and the woman is now said to be poorly but comfortable.
Police discovered the baby’s body at a ground floor flat in Orford and arrested the 56-year-old man at a different address.
He was later freed on bail after questioning.
Social Services have confirmed they have worked with the woman but have not said when they last had contact with her.
A police spokeswoman said the woman was unlikely to be interviewed for several days because of her condition.
She added: “A post mortem examination due to take place today should establish the age of the baby, the cause of death and whether it had any independent life.
“That will determine the course the investigation will take.”
