Neighbours say it's just not cricket

PLANNING chiefs are to make an out-of-season visit to a cricket club – to find out why it has upset its neighbours.
Members of Warrington’s development control committee will go to Grappenhall Cricket Club’s picturesque Broad Lane ground to inspect three shipping containers behind the pavilion.
The club is seeking restrospective planning consent for the containers, which are used for storing equipment.
But nearby residents and Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council have lodged objections
They claim the containers are out of character with the Green Belt, are unsightly and will become more so as they rust over the years.
But planning officers say the containers are well screened and should be allowed to stay on site temporarily – for five years – so that the council could require them to be moved after 2013 if their appearance had deteriorated.
They point out that buildings for sport and recreational use can be allowed in the Green Belt.
