Green light for waste plant

PLANNING chiefs have given the green light for a waste transfer facility handling up to 80,000 tonnes of household waste a year.
Members of Warrington’s development control committee approved the scheme after being told it will speed-up waste disposal at the Arpley Landfill site at Sankey Bridges.
A temporary waste transfer pad will be constructed within the existing site where borough council refuse wagons will tip locally collected waste.
On-site vehicles will then take it to the tip face.
Objections were lodged on the grounds of noise, dust and smells but planning officers said the operation would be regulated by the Environment Agency to minimise environmental impact.
