Fire victim taken to hospital

A MAN was taken to hospital at Warrington today after fire caused severe damage to his home.

The blaze was at a ground floor flat in Bexhill Avenue, Orford and started in the living room.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the outbreak with a

hosereel jet and later used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the

premises. But there was severe smoke damage throughout the property and

a spokesman said it was now uninhabitable.

The man went to Warrington Hospital suffering the effects of smoke.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
