A LOCAL farm shop, nicknamed the “Harrods Food Hall of the North,” has been judged one of the best in the country by national food experts.
The Hollies Farm Shop, at Lower Stretton, has been chosen as one of The Independent’s Top 50 Farm Shops.
The shop originally started from the family selling farm produce at the side of a road with an honesty box.
Director Ed Cowap said: “This is a huge honour for us. To be recognised as one of the country’s leading farm shops is a fantastic feeling.
“The Hollies is committed to supporting some of the country’s finest independent producers and providing a diverse, exciting and fresh range of produce for our customers.”
He said the shop has been built up through three generations of the family and has a “fantastic team” of staff.
The shop sells a vast range of products, sourced regionally where possible, including meats, fish, cheese, chocolates, preserves, olives, wine and champagne.
