Students were in the pink

COLLEGE students and staff held a “Pretty in Pink Day” for charity – and those not wearing the colour were fined.
The event was part of a fundraising programme at Warrington’s Priestley College and raised more than £2,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Students on the society, health and development diploma course, with their tutor Rachel Walsh, organised the fun day.
There were traditional cake stalls, a tombola and raffle. In the afternoon the lads took on the girls in a rugby match attended by Warrington mascot Wolfie, and there was a Battle of the Bands in the Wicked Cafe.
Rachel said: “Although Pretty in Pink Day has taken place before, it has never been as big as this. When we began to plan the event it really gathered momentum, so much so that we had already met our target before the day took place thanks to the kind support of the donors from the world of business.
“The sense of fun and enjoyment was clear for all to see and we were delighted to have raised over £2,000 for such a worthy cause whilst at the same time raising awareness of cancer amongst our young people.”
