A FORMER member of Croft Parish Council has been granted the Freedom of the Parish to mark more than 40 years service to the village.
The parish council has also planted a special tree as a tribute to the service given by Mrs Joan Farrington.
In addition to serving on the council, Mrs Farrington was, and still is, involved in a number of other local organisations including the Women’s Institute, Bowling Green Association, Naylor Trust, Village Hall Committee, church and, as a governor, Croft Primary School.
The tree planting ceremony – which came as a complete surprise to Mrs Farrington – was led by the chairman of the parish council, Coun Jeff Shelley, who praised the former councillor for her years of “loyalty, dedication and commitment” to Croft.
