A CHRISTMAS Tree festival is to be held at St Mathew’s Church, Stretton near Warrington in the run-up to the festive season.
There will be Remembrance and Prayer trees to enable people to remember loved ones and request, or write, prayers and they will remain in church throughout the Christmas period.
Sponsors’ trees will be imaginatively decorated to represents businesses and organisations.
There will be no entrance charge, but donations will be welcome towards church funds and The Women’s Refuge.
A spokesperson for the church said: “As well as viewing all the lit-up trees and the children’s displays – our beautiful church offers you the opportunity to take time out in the busy run up to the Christmas Festivities – a moment to draw breath and remember what Christmas is really about.
“We offer you a chance to sit and rest – to chat to us if you wish, or just to sit and be still. Then invite you to enjoy a hot drink and mincepie.”
The church will be open on Saturdays, November 29 and December 6 from 10am to 4pm and on Sundays November 30 and December 7 from 2pm to 4pm, as well as for normal Sunday services at 8am, 10.30am and 6.30pm.
