Pay-and-display on the way

PAY-and-display parking could be introduced in Lymm by the end of March.
This is the latest estimate following a meeting between borough and parish councils and local traders.
The meeting was described as “very positive” by

Lymm Village Traders’ chairman Phil Sexton.
“Everyone wanted to press forward and I am very confident pay and display WILL be introduced.”
Lymm Parish Council has been pressing for pay and display parking for some time to try and solve the chronic parking problems in the village centre.
A survey has been carried out on all car parks in the village and the likely impact of pay and display parking on surrounding roads. A consultation document should be completed by mid-November with feedback gathered and assessed by early January.
The scheme should be implemented by the end of March.
Mr Sexton added: “Within six months we can expect to start to see something happening to alleviate Lymm centre’s woes.”
The parish council and traders’ representatives are also to hold talks with Lymm Rugby Union Club over the possibility of the club making out-of-town parking space available.
Improved signage for the village shopping centre is also planned in the near future.
