New home for old plan refused

PLANNING chiefs have turned down an application for permission to demolish a house in the Green Belt at Croft to make way for a new, larger dwelling.
The property, in Stone Pit Lane, was formerly a semi-detached dwelling, but has been separated from the re-developed adjacent property.
The application was to demolish the former semi and rebuild it as a larger detached dwelling.
Officers said the proposed new building would have a footprint 65 per cent greater than the original building. But they opposed the scheme because of a glazed front projecting element which, they said, would be out of character with the rest of the property and the adjoining area.
There were no objections from Croft Parish Council, nor from nearby residen
