The key to better gas supplies

THREE new outlets in Warrington are stocking replacement keys for pre-payment gas metres.
The move, which will make life easier for customers, has been made possible by an initiative by Warrington Borough Council and Golden Gates Housing.
Until recently, only one outlet in town sold replacement keys. Demand often exceeded supply, so residents had to travel to Newton le Willows for a new key or wait up to a week for one to be posted to them.
The new retailers are: Phil’s Store UK Ltd, Central Avenue, Orford, The Wills Street Store, Birchwood, and Food and Wine, Liverpool Road, Great Sankey.
Coun Sharon Wilson, executive board member for services to customers, said: “It was a worrying thought for us that with winter on its way, some of our residents may have been left without heat.
“This was unacceptable to us and we knew we had to come up with a solution. Now accessibility should not be a problem.”
