Town face cup replay

WARRINGTON Town face an FA Trophy replay at Cantilever Park tomorrow, Tuesday, (k.o 7.45pm) after a goaless draw at Chorley on Saturday.
After a 3-1 league victory at the same ground earlier in the season, Town travelled in confident mood for this FA Trophy tie, however, both sides started cautiously, the early chances falling to the home side, with striker Jordan Connerton and midfielder Adam Eckersley shooting across the face of goal.
Town started to get into the game and went close shortly afterwards through Kev Towey, who slipped when one on one with Chorley keeper Peter Collinge. Richie Mottram was called into action shortly afterwards to deny Eckersley with his feet, midfielder Dave Tickle was next to go close when his header went narrowly wide of the target from a Towey cross. Six minutes before half time Town went close through Phil Hadland, only to see his effort cleared off the line by defender Rob Henry.
Chorley should have gone ahead shortly afterwards but Connerton missed an open goal after Mottram parried an earlier shot. Town went close to opening the scoring twice shortly before half time when Adam Hunter saw his drive deflected onto the post by the fingertips of Collinge, and shortly afterwards Collinge appeared to carry Danny Toone’s corner over the line, but the referees assistant flagged for a foul.
The second half began slowly again and the game developed into a midfield battle with few chances at either end , the best chances falling to Tom Lamb, who saw Collinge smother his attempted overhead kick and Hadland, whose angle drive went straight at the keeper. Substitute Jimmy McCarthy saw his poked effort go narrowly over the bar, following an uncleared corner. McCarthy went close soon after seeing his effort cleared off the line by defender Kieran Fletcher. Chorley almost pinched the game in the final minute when Mottram tipped over a looping header from substitute Chris Brookes.
Pictures show Kev Towey going down in the box and Anthony Daniels chasing the ball.
