The science of exploding custard

0

KIWI fruits, a magic globe, astronauts and exploding custard – they are all part of a “mini festival of science” near Warrington.
The event takes place at the STFC Daresbury Laboratory this Sunday, October 5, between 10.30am – 5pm.
The day will be jam packed with hands-on activities, displays and talks for budding scientists, young and old.
Visitors will be able to extract DNA from a kiwi fruit, look at the world through a magic globe, discover the future of robotics research or the history of computers, understand climate change or meet rescued birds of prey.
A varied selection of talks will include how astronauts may discover new planets and what they aim to find, how the Astra Laser enables us to research the most extreme intensities only naturally found inside stars and planets, followed by the ever popular ‘Exploding Custard’ talk, which packs in 40 experiments and audience participation in abundance!
Admission is free and for further information on the event call 01925 603671.
