Seniors urged to live full lives

STARS like Madonna and Michael Jackson, who have both hit 50, are being used as examples to inspire Warrington’s over 50s to live life to the full.
Organisers of a “Full of Life Festival” in Warrington, to mark Older People’s Day, want the Over 50s to join in. And they point to Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, both in their 60s, as role models.
The Mayor of Warrington Coun Graham Wellborn and WAPOP (Widening Active Participation for Older People) are inviting local people to the event.
It will be at the Pyramid Arts Centre on Wednesday October 1 from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
There will be taster sessions of arts, sports and leisure activities for over 50s. Prizes can be won including tickets to shows and gym passes. Other events include Tai Chi, tea dancing, salsa, photography, creative writing, exercise and drumming sessions.
The Mayor will open the festivities at 10am, and invited representatives from each of the wards across Warrington will attend afternoon tea with him at the Town Hall.
WAPOP brings together various organisations that work with people aged over 50 across the borough including Age Concern, Older Peoples Engagement Group, University of the 3rd Age and Lifelong Learning.
