UNSIGHTLY graffiti, damaged pot holes and broken street benches – are set to be a thing of the past following the launch of a refresh campaign by Warrington Borough Council.
Three grime busting teams are ready to sweep the borough and revitalise areas as part of the new campaign.
Residents are a major player in this scheme and the council want to hear about areas that need some work.
The council is linking in directly with parish councils to work out what needs doing.
During the next three years, £1.4 million will be ploughed into the scheme to support current services and every area in the borough will reap the benefits.
The council’s street services already does a lot of environmental work across the borough with clearing grot spots, removing fly posting, cleaning road signs, designing flower beds being just a few – and many areas are looking better thanks to our graffiti blitz campaign.
These services will continue as normal but as part of this scheme, they will carry out more regular gully cleansing, pot holes repairs and include any additional work suggested by local people.
Coun Alan Litton, Executive Board member for environment services, said: “We are not saying that we have a problem in Warrington, it’s quite the opposite and our current services do an excellent job.
“This is all about getting into local areas and sorting out the things that residents want to see changed and improved all with a view to making every day lives better as well as improving the whole image of the town.”
