A YOUNG Warrington golfer has won through to the finals of the Faldo Series golf competition – to be played in Brazil.
Luke Burrows, 19, a member of both Poulton Park and Birchwood golf clubs will be flying out to take part in the prestigious six-day tournament on October 25.
His dad, Chris, also a member at Poulton Park, will be going with him.
Luke first showed an interest in golf when he was six and started playing properly when he was 10.
He works part time as a life guard at Fordton Leisure Centre so that he can devote plenty of time to golf – and his ambition to become a professional when he is 21.
His proud mum, Donna, said: “We were so pleased when he got through the regional finals in Stoke.
“He has a handicap of +2, which is good for his age, but he is improving all the time.
“He has won numerous competitions for players older than himself, beating several professionals in the process.
“People keep asking him why he hasn’t turned pro yet – but he thinks it’s better to wait until he has improved his game still more so he is waiting until he is 21 before he considers it.”
