Oscar winning actress Emma Thompson will become one of the first to join a unique “100 club” set up to support Warrington’s ground-breaking national peace charity.
The ‘100 Club’ is a business club launched by the educational peace charity, The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, offering like-minded business people and companies the opportunity to benefit from networking events, forums and events in return for commitment to support the Foundation annually.
The club will be launched next Friday September 19, at the Peace Centre created in memory of the two youngsters killed by an IRA bomb attack on the town in March 1993.
Ms Thompson, (pictured right) a patron of the Foundation, is one of the first 12 members to sign up to the Club.
She said: “I have been a supporter of the Foundation’s work for many years and I am delighted to be part of this new initiative which will benefit both local businesses and the Foundation. Although I am not able to be present on the day, I urge you all to support this vital work.”
Inspired by Colin and Wendy Parry, the parent’s of 12-year-old Tim who died following the blast which also claimed the life of three-year-old Johnathan, the peace centre delivers educational programmes for young people aged 5-25 years which tackle prejudice, discrimination and violence and also works with victims and survivors of politically motivated violence.
The launch will be attended by business professionals and supporters of the Foundation and feature keynote speaker, business strategy expert, Chris Daffy.
Chris has a reputation for providing practical, easy to understand ideas and advice based on experience, research
and common sense. His presentations are entertaining, energetic, inspirational and packed with simple concepts that are of immediate value to any organization, large or small.
Co-founder and Trustee of the Foundation, Wendy Parry, said: “We are delighted that Emma has decided to become one of the first members of the ‘100 Club’ and she has shown, yet again, how supportive she is towards the work of the Foundation.
Hopefully, individuals and companies who pledge their support will be as passionate and enthusiastic as Emma.” Chief Executive, Clare White, added: “We are looking forward to hearing Chris’s presentation entitled ‘The WOW route to Customers for Life’. He is an excellent speaker and will benefit any organisation attending the event.
The funds raised from The 100 Club will help us to continue the delivery and development of our programmes and allow the organisations involved to put something back into the community.”
Any business representatives wishing to attend the event should contact Wendy Parry on 01925 581 231.
