PLANNING chiefs will make a second attempt to reach a decision on a controversial plan for a village centre takeaway shop at a Town Hall meeting tonight.
Members of Warrington’s development control committee have visited the scheme, in Common Lane, Culcheth after hearing of objections from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
Villagers have been complaining for years that Culcheth has too many takeaways and food outlets.
The new scheme would involve converting an existing building and adding a single storey extension.
But the parish council has lodged strong objections.
They say the proposed opening hours – 10am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays – are too late.
They fear there will be increased litter and a demand for parking in an area already unable to cope with the number of parked vehicles.
