FORMER Coronation Street star Chris Bisson called into a local gourmet farm shop to stock up on fresh produce to cook for a new television series.
Chris, from Lymm who played Vikram Desai in the soap and also appeared in the film East is East, made a special trip to The Hollies Farm Shop at Little Budworth to buy high quality fresh produce for his recipes.
He is appearing in a celebrity version of ITV’s Britain’s Best Dish. He will be creating his own version of a traditional Sunday roast and macaroni pie. At the shop, Chris was filmed choosing Italian pasta and locally grown beetroot and carrots for his dishes.
Chris said: “The Hollies is all about local produce, which makes a massive difference when you’re cooking. The carrots still have dirt on so you know they are straight from the ground, and the produce here is all from high quality suppliers.
“It’s important if you can shop using local producers and suppliers then you do it. The quality is much better and there are not loads of food miles involved so you’re not paying as much.”
After his visit Chris went home to Lymm where he was filmed cooking the dishes.
The Hollies is owned by brothers Ed and Phil Cowap, who have built up the business into a food emporium. They started by selling fruit and vegetables at the side of the road, with just an honesty box.
