MEMBERS of Culcheth Methodist Church have worked throughout the summer to help renovate the building.
A local business gave the church £150 worth of materials to help paint the outside walls, repair the roof and varnish new doors. The doors were provided following a £400 grant from Warrington Borough Council.
A £500 grant was given by BNFL Risley Medical Research and Charity Trust, which provided a loop system in the community hall to help the hearing impaired.
A further grant from Connections Community Development Fund for £1,000 helped to improve the sound system. Garfield Weston Foundation gave the church £2,000 which went towards electrical improvements.
Total work on electronics cost £15,700 with grants from a variety of sources. A £5,000 grant from The Historic Churches Preservation Trust helped complete the re-wiring.
Project leader Daphne Eastburn said: “We have been working tirelessly for the past five weeks, painting, gardening, cleaning and doing all the odd jobs to make our building a brighter, safer environment.”
The church’s next event is a Youth Day on October 4 with a variety of workshops, a barbecue and a choir concert.
