Business school's new head

THE new head of a business school with a base in Warrington, is hoping to turn out graduates with “the skills demanded by employers.”
Chris Pyke has been appointed head of Chester Business School at the University of Chester – which delivers a wide range of programmes including a part-time business administration centre at the Warrington campus.
Chris, who is also acting dean of the Faculty of Business, Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, is a specialist in corporate financial management and strategic business management.
He said: “Our mission is to turn out business graduates who are technically competent, enterprising and have the skills demanded by employers.
“We will be working closely with employers to ensure we develop relevant programmes which produce graduates who meet their needs and expectations.”
Chris, who is from Little Sutton, Wirral, has written a range of publications and has presented papers at national and international conferences. He is a professionally qualified accountant, and joined the University of Chester in September last year from a post at Liverpool John Moores University.
He said: “I want to ensure that we give as many people as possible the chance to change their lives by studying with us. I plan to encourage wider participation in our programmes by providing flexible ways of studying and excellent support to ensure our students achieve their full potential.”
