A FORMER Warrington student has landed the prime breakfast slot on a popular North West radio station.
Paul Salt, known as “Salty,” has a new career in radio that has seen him broadcasting from the European Cup Final in Istanbul in 2005, playing football at his beloved Anfield, and touring the North West with his own breakfast show.
Paul and co-presenter David Ditchfield host Century Radio’s breakfast show. They have just taken it on “Ditchy and Salty’s World Tour,” visiting places like Chester Zoo, Camelot, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the set of Coronation Street.
It is 11 years since Paul graduated from the media studies and business management course at the University of Chester’s Warrington campus. He has worked for a variety of radio stations and moved to Manchester-based Century three years ago.
Paul, who returned to Warrington a couple of years ago to switch on the Christmas lights, enjoyed his time at the university. He said it gave him good experience for his career.
He is a staunch Liverpool fan and said: “Doing the breakfast show from Istanbul in 2005, prior to the Champions League Final, was fantastic. We were over there doing a special show on the day Liverpool were playing AC Milan, and that was easily the highlight of my career to date. I don’t think anything will ever beat it.”
