Heartless thief stole from pensioner

POLICE have issued an e-fit picture of a heartless thief who stole from a pensioner at Warrington.
The man – said to be about 5ft 8 inches tall, with short fair-to-brown hair – stole cash from the home of a man in his 70s in St Peter’s Way on the afternoon of August 11.
He called at the victim’s house, wearing light blue jeans and a pink striped top and gained entry to the property by claiming there had been a boiler explosion at a neighbour’s house.
He then kept the victim talking for a period of time, before leaving the premises.
Police believe this could have been a distraction for another person to enter the house and take the money.
The thief is believed to have a speech impediment.
Officers are urging residents, particularly elderly residents, to ask for identification from anyone who calls at their door.
Anyone with any information about this incident, or who recognises the offender from the picture, is asked to contact officers at Warrington on 0845 458 0000.
Information can also be left anonymously by contacting the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
