A MINI-Olympics festival was the highlight of an exciting sports week which which drew in children from Warrington, Trafford, Vale Royal and the rest of Cheshire
The event was at the Children’s Adventure Farm at Millington, near Lymm.
All the children taking part had some form of physical or mental disability and all participated in the various events throughout the week.
They were also treated to a visit from Patron of the farm Sarah Storey and her husband Barney, who are both set to travel to Beijing for the Paralympic Games.
Throughout the week the children worked in four teams, GB, France, Spain and Germany, to create their own team flags and t-shirts.
The Olympic festival started as normal with an opening ceremony before the children participated in a packed programme of events to suit their abilities. These included ball throwing and catching, obstacle races and relays.
Jenny O’Hare, sports co-ordinator at the Adventure Farm, said: “It was a fantastic end to an amazing week. The kids had a ball. They all got really into the spirit of the Games, proudly holding aloft their team flags and doing their very best in the events.
“This sort of Festival proves that all children, regardless of physical limitations, developmental problems or social background can work as a team, have fun and shine.”
