BUSINESSES wanting to cash in on “Olympic mania” following British successes in Beijing are being invited to a trade workshop in Warrington.
As a wave of enthusiasm swept the country after Britain went third in the medals table – behind host nation China and the United States – plans were being made for companies to take advantage of contracts and suppier opportunities for the 2012 Games in London.
Business chiefs believe Team Great Britain’s successes in China, bringing the best haul of medals for more than 80 years, will give a boost to the London games
The free seminar will be at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on October 7 from 9.30am to 1pm and is open to businesses from Warrington and Cheshire.
It will offer an introduction to the North West Business Network, the London Business Network and CompeteFor – a website for London 2012 contract opportunities.
The event is being organised by The North West Business Network in collaboration with Cheshire and Warrington Economic Alliance and Visit Chester and Cheshire and is supported by Cheshire Chambers Enterprises Ltd.
It will focus on business opportunities for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and other public sector procurement opportunities.
London 2012 expects to have around 7,000 direct contracts which, together with its suppliers, will form supply chains of around 75,000 opportunities. They will be in a variety of sectors including construction, engineering, manufacturing, creative, merchandising and retail.
Businesses in Cheshire and Warrington who want to register for the event should go to www.businesseventsfor2012.co.uk
Events will include the NWDA perspective, profile of Olympic opportunities and compiling a successful tender, how Business Link can support businesses in supplying to London 2012, a case study and questions and answers. There will also be a lunch and networking opportunities.
