Warning after pistol stolen

POLICE today issued a warning after a pistol was stolen from business premises near Warrington.
The weapon – described as a “slaughtering pistol” was stolen during a burglary at Sutton Weaver.
No ammunition was taken with the gun and police have alerted local gunsmiths to be on the lookout for anyone seeking to sell the gun or purchase ammunition for it.
The 3.2 pistol is a single-shot gun and was held legitimately by the company from which it was stolen.
The raiders also stole a heavy safe from the premises and police have subsequently found this at Oakmere.
It had been smashed open and a quantity of cash stolen.
