Get walking – to discover Warrington!

RESIDENTS in Warrington are being encouraged to discover some of the “hidden” wonders of the town by venturing out into the miles of countryside the borough has to offer.
Warrington has more than 450 public rights of way, stretching a vast 215km through fields, woodlands and by watersides, all of which have hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.
A dedicated team works all year round to maintain and improve the standards of footpaths so that they are ready and available for residents.
A 2007 survey revealed that 74 per cent of the footpath network was considered “easy to use.”
The borough council’s executive member for Environmental Services, Alan Litton, said: “There are public paths throughout Warrington giving opportunities for access to the countryside. Outdoor activity is beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing.
“You may wish to explore the area that you live in or maybe try going further afield. And there are many ways of enjoying the countryside; on foot with the family and a picnic, or for the more energetic try cycling or even horse riding.”
The council is asking residents to follow the countryside and cyclist guides when using the outdoor features of Warrington.
A list of the guidance points can be found by visiting www.warrington .gov.uk or by visiting the Contact Centre in Horsemarket Street.
