JUNIOR wardens are going on the beat in Warrington this summer – helping to deal with litter, fly-tipping and other problems.
Children from across estates Dallam, Bewsey, Grasmere and Greenwood, Longford and Blackbrook will get the chance to see what life as a warden is really like as part of the scheme launched by the Stronger Together

.
Aim of the scheme is to raise awareness of environmental and community safety issues such as recycling and the cost of fly-tipping and graffiti.
All youngsters, aged between nine and 11, will get the chance to take part and Cheshire Police and the fire and rescue service will work alongside them.
While on the beat, the junior wardens will visit Risley Police Station and local fire stations to speak to officers about the costs of arson attacks and hoax phone calls.
The wardens have already visited popular tourist attraction Gulliver’s World theme park to pick up discarded litter.
Senior wardens should pick up a few hints and tips from the juniors too as they will learn what is important to the youngsters in their communities.
Borough council executive member for Neighbourhoods and Communities Liz Smith said: “These young people are to be congratulated on their commitment to the communities in which they live. This is a fine example of the many projects that young volunteers take part in to gain knowledge and experience that they can use to improve our environment and to spread, among other young people, ways to become proactive and responsible young citizens. So let’s celebrate the many good things they achieve.”
