A GROUP of Warrington volunteers is set to become the voice for the town’s green spaces, parks and waterways.
The newly created parks and green spaces forum was launched at the town hall and is made up of representatives from a variety of voluntary groups with a direct interest in Warrington’s “green spaces” networks.
Their duties will involve overseeing the future provision and use of facilities like water spaces, angling, parks, green spaces, sports, nature reserves and allotments.
Warrington Borough Council’s project delivery team will directly support the forum who are already recognised as an important component in terms of decision making affecting the town’s green spaces.
Chairman of the forum Dianne Jones, said: “We will be looking at a variety of topics and through sharing knowledge and information, talking about possibilities and problems we will seek to positively influence the continued development and improvement of Warrington’s parks, green spaces, and waterways’. “We have some exciting times ahead and can’t wait to really get going.”
Coun Alan Litton, the council’s executive member for Environment, added: “The new Parks and Green Spaces Forum has been invited to work with the council, to support the town’s new regeneration framework and to contribute directly to its planned delivery programme for the redevelopment of Warrington’s parks, green spaces and waterways.”
