More couples seek help

PEOPLE affected by “unhealthy” relationships are now more likely to seek help according to Warrington charity The Relationships Centre.
The centre, which provides support to those affected by difficult relationships, says that more people are becoming aware of services available to help and are seeking support.
Its figures for the last quarter shows the centre is working with 1,000 clients and received more than 4,000 calls between April 1 and June 30.
Centre spokeswoman Marissa Hankinson said the figures showed how important the services are to the community.
She said: “It can take a lot for a person to pick up the phone and ask for help, here at The Relationships Centre we are specialists in the field of relationships which can cover a wide range of topics such as domestic abuse, parenting, family breakdown, young runaways and more and we are able to help them directly or we can signpost them to the help they need.”
One of the clients, Jodie, said: “I was at a difficult time and I wasn’t getting on with my parents and I was being bullied at school, I had run away from home a couple of times and I didn’t have anyone to turn to.”
She said the centre helped her and her family talk about problems and ensured she got support at school.
