Degrading home extension approved

A “DEGRADING” garden room has been given the go-ahead by planners – despite claims it will lead to “drastic urbanising” in the surrounding area.
The garden room can now be built on Mill Lane, Walton, Warrington, after the borough council’s development control committee gave the green light to the proposal.
Walton Parish Council had objected to planning officers originally, saying the extension to an old barn would be “degrading” as it would alter the rural appearance of the farm building.
But planners decided to allow the single storey extension because it was appropriately designed and would have no detrimental impact on neighbours or on the openness of the Green Belt.
