Town hit by thunderstorm

PARTS of the Warrington area were hit by a major thunderstorm during the night.
Torrential rain lashed down – and caused serious flooding in Ackers Road, Stockton Heath.
Roads were turned into rivers as flashes of lightning lit up the night sky and there were loud claps of thunder.
But there were no reports of property being struck by lightning and fire services reported no calls to deal with flooding.
Ironically, the flooding at Stockton Heath was close to the fire station.
Residents of the Lymm, Appleton and Woolston areas reported heavy rain and thunder.
But it appears the Warrington area missed the worst of the weather, which is believed to have been in the Northwich area.
A number of road bridges which frequently flood during heavy rain were again affected.
The B5159 Mill Lane at Lymm was closed to traffic due to flooding between the Bradshaw Lane-Stage Lane junction and Warrington Lane.
