Fire crews in all-night battle at farm

FIRE crews fought throughout the night to control a blaze involving three haystacks at a local farm.
The blaze was in Firtree Lane, Burtonwood and was the second in the area within a week.
Arsonists are being blamed.
A Fire Service spokesman said the three stacks of baled hay were too far apart for the fire to have spread accidentally.
“Farmers are advised to be particularly vigilant at this time of year as there is always someone ready to set fire to haystacks in the open.
“The hay should be removed to a secure place as soon as possible.”
Two fire crews from Warrington fought the fires from about 1am until 5am this morning.
In another incident, fire crews extinguished a fire involving a wheelie bin in Poplars Avenue, Orford, Warrington, caused by a carelessly disposed barbecue.
A spokesman said: “Disposable barbecues should be doused in water and not be placed in bins until the following morning.”
