Councillor's retirement gift

MEMBERS of Appleton Parish Council have presented a former colleague with a gift in appreciation of his work for the council.
Former councillor Ray Hancock served on the council for 15 years but decided to step down and did not seek re-election in May.
The deputy chairman, Coun Brian Axcell presented him with a framed print of the “Golden Gates” at Warrington Town Hall on behalf of the parish council.
Coun Hancock – he remains a Liberal Democrat member of Warrington Borough Council – thanked members for the gift and commented that he had enjoyed his time as a parish councillor.
His wife, June, is still a member of the parish council.
