FIREFIGHTERS from Warrington were called out in the early hours of today – to deal with a fire almost on their doorstep.
The blaze was in the attic of a house in Cross Street, off Longford Street – just around the corner from the fire station.
Cause of the outbreak is still be investigated. But there was no-one in at the house when it broke out at about 2am.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene and four firefighers wearing breathing apparatus were involved in the operation, using one hosereel jet.
Fire damage was confined to the attic although there was some smoke damage in the rest of the house.
