Alex takes first step on the ladder

A WARRINGTON man was able to take his first step on the property ladder thanks to a First Time Buyer Initiative (FTBI) at Carrington Park, near the town centre.
First time buyer Alex Rogerson, 21, a mobile phone specialist, had previously lived with his parents in Hollins Green.
He bought a one-bedroom apartment under the scheme run by Countryside Properties’.
Alex said: “It’s much better than any other schemes that developers offer; I had to keep asking if I’d understood it right, it seemed too good to be true and people warn you that being a first time buyer these days is challenging. But Countryside Properties’ made it very easy.”
The FTBI is run in conjunction with national regeneration agency English Partnerships’ to help people onto the property ladder who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy a new home.
First time buyers can contribute a minimum of 50 per cent towards the full purchase price of a new home through an affordable mortgage, with English Partnerships contributing the rest by way of direct payment to the developer.
Alex said: “The layout of the development was the first thing that caught my eye. It’s a gated community which makes you feel instantly at home. I feel really safe and secure being part of a neighbourhood where I feel we can all look out for each other.”
