ASPIRING business entrepreneurs of the future were rewarded for their achievements during the course of the academic year at Warrington’s Priestley College.
The employee of the month awards are now into their fifth year and see tutors from across the business, law, travel and tourism and public services curriculum areas come together to nominate students for their contribution and effort based on the vocational course they have studied.
In total nine students were rewarded at an annual celebration event as college principal Mike Southworth handed out certificates and vouchers to those who had been successful.
The scheme has effectively worked as an incentive to students to compete for each monthly prize and has allowed a number of the winners to include the success on their personal statements for the university application process.
During a very busy year for the curriculum area, students from business and travel and tourism visited London, public services were involved in a range of practical visits, including one to the Royal Marines, while law students took part in and won a mock trial competition.
Business tutor Julie McDonald said: “The employee of the month awards were a fitting way to bring down the curtain on another highly successful year.
“I wish our departing students all the very best for the future and am sure a number of them will go onto have great success in whatever pathway they choose in the future.”
