Garden wall too high say neighbours

OBJECTIONS that a wall around a house in a rural area of Warrington is “too high” and out of character have been made by neighbours and parish councillors.
Despite complaints, planners are recommending approval for the application at The White House, Hobb Lane, Daresbury, when it comes before Warrington’s Development Control Committee next week.
The application is for a proposed garden wall and pillars to form an entrance at the property.
In September a retrospective application for retention of wall extending 35 metres across the existing frontage to a maximum height of 3.4 metres was refused due to its impact on the area.
Permission is now sought for a wall of reduced height with the retention of two entrance pillars at their existing height of 3.4 metres. The western part of the wall has already been reduced to two metres in height.
The Cheshire brick wall is built on top of a pre-existing sandstone wall.
Walton Parish Council objects saying the wall is still too high and the brick is “out of keeping” with the area. A neighbour voiced similar concerns.
But planners said the reduction of height would bring it in line with adjoining walls in Hobb Lane and that the difference in brick was not sufficient grounds for refusal as it would weather in time.
