Sex pest filmed women in shops

A SERIAL sex pest used a mobile phone to film up woman’s skirt as she browsed through a book shop in Warrington town centre.
But a member of the public spotted him in the shop in Golden Square, raised the alarm and managed to prevent him deleting the video footage from the phone.
Paul Morris, 54, pleaded guilty at Warrington Crown Court to four offences of outraging public decency and was jailed for four months.
He was also made subject to a sexual prevention order for five years, which bans him from owning a phone with recording capabilities, exposing himself in public or approaching anyone under the age of 18.
Joanne Parsons, prosecuting, said Morris, of Navigation Close, Murdishaw, Runcorn, was spotted by Hayden Pryce-Jones, crouching with his phone in the shop, near a woman customer.
When he realised what the man was doing, Mr Pryce-Jones approached the woman and asked her if she knew Morris.
Once it became apparent she didn’t, Mr Price-Jones confronted Morris, who admitted what he had been doing and unsuccessfully tried to delete the footage from his phone.
The police were called and Morris admitted three other similar offences in card and book shops, involving women he found attractive.
The court heard Morris had previous convictions for similar offences dating back to 1982, one of which involved exposing himself to two 14-year-old girls.
Daniel Dennis, defending, said Morris realised the impact his actions had made on the victim and the shame he had brought on his family.
Judge Thomas Teague praised Mr Pryce-Jones for his actions before telling the defendant: “There is no alternative other than an immediate custodial sentence.”
