Railway legends steaming in

0

STEAM railway enthusiasts have a chance to see a little bit of history at Warrington’s Bank Quay station next month.
The Railway Touring Company is drafting a number of historic steam locomotives into service every Sunday during August and on Bank Holiday Monday.
Three Pacific type locomotives will take day trippers to North Wales or Yorkshire.
The 1930s-built 6201 Princess Elizabeth, the 60009 Union of South Africa and the 71000 Duke of Gloucester are all treasures of locomotive history, restored to full operational standards.
Passengers joining The North Wales Coast Express at Warrington Bank Quay will have the choice of destinations including Llandudno, Conwy, Bangor and Holyhead.
The Yorkshire coast service, The Scarborough Flyer, will head across The Pennines to York where passengers can leave the train for an afternoon in the ancient walled city. From York the Flyer will steam along the Vale of York, past Kirkham Abbey and on into Scarborough.
Details are available from Warrington Tourist Information Centre in the Bus Interchange or by calling 01925 428585.
