A NEW square in Warrington has been named Hilden Square to mark the 40th anniversary of the borough’s twinning with the German town.
A delegation from Hilden, led by the Bürgermeister Günter Scheib, visited Warrington to join in the celebrations.
The Bürgermeister, who donated signs written in German and English performed the official opening with Mayor Graham Welbourne outside the main entrance to the new Golden Square development.
Music was provided by Great Sankey High School Swing Band.
During the visit they also compared Warrington services with their own, visiting the town’s CCTV monitoring system as well as attending the launch of Disability Awareness Day at Golden Square and the Party in the Park in Queens Gardens.
