warrington-worldwide cover girl Holly Ikin has again won through to the finals of the Miss England final 2008. After winning a photographic heat the current Miss Warrington competed in the semi final of Miss England against 42 other girls at Champeys Springs in Ashby de la Zouche, Leicestershire, which consisted of an interview, talent, and bikini competition.
A delighted Holly said: ‘This was one of the hardest competitions I have been in.We were scrutinized by the judges and any one of the girls could have won. I was just praying that I would get a chance to compete in the final again.”
The panel of judges, which included former Manchester United legend George Best’s son Calum Best, selected 10 winners to compete in the Miss England Final on July 18 in London. Holly was the final contestant to be announced as one of the winners.
“I was stood with all the other girls as they announced the top ten, I realised that they had then called nine girls out and thought that’s it, I have no chance… I am glad I was wrong and was completely overwhelmed when they called out my name!”
Holly from Culcheth near Warrington, who is a student at Manchester University, now faces another hurdle, as she has to compete against 49 other finalists in the grand final.
If she wins the Miss England title, she gets £30,000 worth of prizes, the use of a brand new car for a year, £1,500 worth of designer evening wear and a variety of other goodies. She also gets to go through to the Miss World finals being held in Kiev, Ukraine, which has a first prize of $100,000.
