LIBERAL Democrat leader Nick Clegg visited Warrington today (Friday) for a “walkabout” of town centre hot spots caused by late night drinking.
Borough council leader Ian Marks and Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary candidate Coun Jo Crotty joined Inspector Richard Reeves, in charge of town centre policing in the town.
They toured Bridge Street and other town centre hot spots to discuss the impact of the new town centre policing unit and the council’s 10-point plan for tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in Warrington.
Later, the Lib Dem leader visited the Bewsey Community House in Troutbeck Avenue to meet local councillor Bob Timmis and Coun Liz Smith, executive member for Neighbourhoods, to tour areas where the “Stronger Together” community initiative is operating and to meet local Police Community Support Officers.
Finally Mr Clegg visited Warrington’s central police station.
For a full report on his visit and more photos log on to Warrington-Worldwide tomorrow and on Monday see an exclusive video interview with the Lib Dem leader.
