Multi-million £ health centre

PLANS are being tabled for a new multi-million pound health facility for town centre Warrington.
The state-of-the-art health provision is set to replace the existing Garven Place practice, with residents and patients being consulted on the development every step of the way, according to health chiefs.
Due to high demand on Garven Place, health chiefs feel the new, modern facility is needed to cope with the growing number of users.
To avoid severe disruption, the new centre is planned for Bath Street – on the site of the old Victorian baths – enabling Garven Place to continue to operate until the facility is ready.
Residents are now being asked to put forward their views on the new centre and what they want to see in it.
Chris Webb, Community Services manager for the emergency out-of-hours service based at Garven Place, said: “This is an open call for people to come and talk to us and tell us what they want.
“The existing building has out-lived its useful days and we need to re-develop the facility that has served the people of Warrington so well for many years.
“Everyone is welcome to contact us and put their views forward about the ‘new’ Garven Place, which will provide the best care to patients in the future.”
Two GP practices are considering moving to the re-developed Garven Place, although their patients will be consulted.
Dr Tony Rimmer, who currently practices in Bewsey Street, said: “A move to the new Garven Place would allow the practice to develop and expand the range of services that we could provide to our patients while most importantly keeping the relationship we have with our patients and continuity of care at the forefront of what we do.”
