TWO completely innocent men were left bloodied and bruised after a violent street attack in Warrington town centre.
Six men were involved in the attack – and one of the victims was punched and kicked as he lay helpless on the ground.
Both victims were prison guards from a local institution on a night out to celebrate a colleague’s promotion, Warrington Crown Court was told.
One of the gang, Jamie Hudders, 30, of Brookfield Court, Burnage, Manchester pleaded guilty to affray and failing to surrender to bail.
He was jailed for six months.
The court heard he had previously failed to attend court on three occasions, although he eventually gave himself up after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Simon Mills, prosecuting, said the two victims were pushed down the stairs at the Medicine night club in Warrington before being beaten in the street outside. When police arrived on the scene, after witnessing the attack on CCTV, Hudders ran off, resisting arrest, before eventually being arrested.
Roger Green, defending, said that Hudders had been promised a well paid job and could make substantial contributions to any financial order the judge made, instead of being sent straight to prison.
But Judge Stephen Clarke said: “Yet again people in a club in this town have found themselves victims of violence.”
