Fuel prices lead to more drive-offs

0

INCREASED petrol prices have been a major concern for police as the fuel hike has seen the number of “drive-offs” from filling stations increase in Warrington.
Officers have been out in force patrolling the town’s filling stations after witnessing a sharp increase in the number motorists driving off from the pumps without paying.
Members of the Warrington East Neighbourhood Policing Team have been patrolling stations in Culcheth, Glazebury, Woolston, Padgate and Birchwood, which did result in a reduction in the numbers leaving without paying.
In addition to the added patrols, CCTV equipment was updated, certain pumps were closed at certain times and further training was given to staff.
